Golf is extremely popular in South Africa and you can play it all year round. From November to March - when it is cold in Europe - golf players from overseas can enjoy playing golf in fine weather on one of the many golf courses. The Somerset West area is a golfer's paradise with no less then three 18-hole golf courses as well as a 9-hole golf course and a golf driving range. If you want to practice your swing or perfect your putting Vodacom Golf Village is the place to go. This driving range has 50 tee-box bays that provide a ryegrass platform to 7 target greens. Each bay is equipped with a bag stand and specific yardage card. A practice bucket of 50 balls cost a meagre 15 Rand. If you want to improve your game with a professional golf trainer you can do so. Erinvale Golf & Country Club
This golf course is truly one of the best known and most spectacular in South Africa. Situated on the slopes of the Helderberg, the view to the Hottentots Holland Mountains and over the False Bay is stunning. The first nine holes in the lower part are quite easy. But the second nine holes further up are a real challenge for every golf player.

Strand Golf Club
This golf course is situated close to the sandy beaches of the False Bay. Because of the many bunkes, water features and often strong winds this is not an easy golf course. In honour of the wind, an annual tournament called the 'Southeaster' is held here every April.

Somerset West Country Club
Somerset West is one of the few traditional Country Clubs with facilities for tennis, squash and bowls as well as golf. This course with old trees is a place where the average golfer can expect to play two or three shots under his handicap.

Helderberg Village Golf Club
Although this nine-hole golf course was established mainly for residents in Helderberg Village, it is also open to visitors wanting to enjoy a quick game of golf. The course is well maintained, quiet and seldom overcrowded.
